AUN, Hodan Nalayeh since she spent her life trying to show the beauty in Somalia. She knew there were risks, but she kept going because the country needs help. She said it herself “Nothing is permanent go live your life” . I saw her tweets and videos about Somalia and I can tell she loved living there, she loved talking to the local people from different regions, she loved seeing Somali success stories. And that is one of the primary reasons people loved her. She was courageous, she was an inspiration, and she wasn’t afraid of death.
To go to Somalia and live there takes courage, to change the country takes courage, to get rid of Al shabab takes courage, to get rid of the corrupt fools and corruption takes courage, and to be a journalists
in Somalia takes courage.
If you have hope in Somalia to change and want to be a part of the change and document the change then you need courage you can’t be weak and be pessimistic.
Hodan was a great person. She wasn’t a pitiful person because she was a courageous warrior. And for this fool to use her death for a political tool belittles our courageous warrior. Inshallah, I hope her death and life inspires people to have the courage to change Somalia and see the beauty of Somalia.
