My Idea on How To Defeat Al Shabaab And Other Terrorist Groups

If I was President of PL or Somalia, today, I would order the execution of a family member of an Al Shabaab or ISIS member. If, they still fail to give themselves up, I would order that a family member, of theirs, be executed every week, until they give themselves up to authorities. Then, when they do hand themselves in, i would order the execution of a further two more of their family members.

Same thing would also be done to anyone merely suspected of being involved with any terrorist or outlawed militia groups. Collective punishment is the way to go. They wanna go and kill innocent people, and families? Fine, then their families will be targeted.

That will be the perfect way to end Al Shabaab and other terrorist groups. This would also be, the perfect deterrent to joing any of these evil groups.

Harsh? Absolutely.
Fair? Absolutely.
Would it work? Absolutely.

Terrible idea. I had friends who joined al qaida and died. They didnt consider their own families as real muslims. So you would be ecxecuting muslims for no reason imo. Also you would be ok if your uncles son join al shabaab your uncle should be executed?

The strategy to defeat Al shabab is first address the social issues facing Somalia. Corruption,weak and unjust laws,unregulated imports etr. Al shabab thrive of chaos and injustices.

bro al shabaab is a mindset. in order to defeat this mmindset you have to open dialogue with them. engage in talks with these guys. regarding islam. either that or just wait for the mahdi to come.

Your idea sucks. In the west counter terrorism units don't live where they operate. That way they get to do their jobs without fear of retaliation. We need a national police force and without one Al Shabaab will never be defeated.

Tbh i wouldnt kill their families.
But i would demolish any house in which weapons were found, or where alshabab terrorists are reported to be hiding.

Also execution for every alshabab captured in acts of war.

And the order to soldiers to kill on the spot every shababist who is seen planting a mine.
