Russia to train Somali soldiers again, Putin invites Farmaajo to Moscow for the end of the year

Mogadishu(SONNA)-President of the Federal Republic of Somalia HE Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has today received credentials from the newly appointed Russian ambassador to Somalia.
The incoming Russian ambassador to Somalia Mr. Mikhalil Golovanov delivered greetings from the Russian president Vladimir Putin. He promised to strengthen the bilateral relation between the two countries, and improve the cooperation between Somalia and Russia. The Ambassador thanked the people of Somalia for the warm reception and hospitality.
The ambassador hailed the government for the progress made in financial reforms and security sector. He promised his country will take part in training of civil servants and the armed forces.
The president of Somalia said his government wants to restore relations with the world and develop cooperation that’s based on mutual benefit and respect.
President Farmajo congratulated the ambassador for the appointment and accepted an official invitation from the president of Russia Vladimir Putin to visit Russia towards the end of this year.

Somalia and soviet union treaty was a great deal to Mother Russia. What happen they throw it and went to Ethiopia. We will never work with soviet after what they did to us on 1979 by stab our backs. Even they bring Cuban and Arabs with them to fight us.

It was actually a war, which lead to the destruction of the Somali republic. How can a poor nation, wich took it military ressources from begging (military aid) think they can invade a country like Ethopia ? It is beyond me. Russia as a partner warned us, but our delusions led to our loss.

Russia actually trained a lot of professionals in our country.

A lot of our educated elder generation got their education from the Soviets.

It's probably a way for Russia to infiltrate their people into Somalia but at least we get skilled people out of it.

The west would rather just pay for influence instead.
