Most companies offer maternity leave, my work offers 3 months of maternity leave 3 months of paternity leave. I pay less than 200 for healthcare including dental. It just depends on who you work for, but I definitely agree about healthcare as a whole is a nightmare in the states. Most people use scholarships and grants to help with school and federal aid pays for most Somalis education, that’s why you rarely see a Somali with student loan debt, trust me when it comes to higher education, Somalis and most minority get it for free, it’s the others that are doomed lol

Every monday around 9am two blue eyed blond hair cleaners enter my office to clean the desk of a black, muslim, son of refugees. 9.05AM I leave the office because the emotions get hold of me.

I love this country

I feel like most of you take what you read and see in the media too literally, if that was the case America would be a war zone lol

Visit us Knowles, you shall be hosted by @Basra with delicious hilib geel and caano, which she gets from Dur Dur Bakery daily :banderas:

If I visited basra I’m afraid I wouldn’t return

Most Somalis in Europe will move to North America but they would prefer to move to Australia because of the weather, less hostility towards refugees and if they are educated or have technical skills the easy access to jobs. We have a Caucasian Aussie guy who hoists the Somalia flag in his house on Somalia's Independence Day. It couldn't happen in Europe or in America.

When I think of Australia I think of poisonous snakes and spiders :susp:

Lool you have no idea. Sweden is better and richer than dwnmark in every sense. Denmark is the alabama of scandanavia. Extremely racist and anti muslim place. Even though danes and swedes are related the danes are more of white trash and ghetto than the white swedes
Not true.
Denmark is a nice country.. And I don't experience that much racism on daily basis.. Actually I think Norway and Finland are the most racist countries in Scandinavia.

I think I am in a unique position to answer this question. I am born in Sweden but I have spent a lot of time in the States. I would say overall I liked America better, principally because of one reason: sense of belonging.

In Sweden even though I speak the language perfectly, don’t dress like a fob, don’t look like a gaajo lanky and so on, making every effort to assimilate into society without breaking core principles; I feel like a perpetual foreigner. This feeling wherever you go starts to grate on you, the small relief I get is when I hang out with my Swedish friends because then I guess I seem like a safe immigrant.

In America I am just assumed to be an American. Even in the “racist” South. I don’t feel I stick out anywhere, wherever I go people are friendly and talkative. Swedish people are generally cold and unsocial, but even more so with immigrants. Plus, guns are cool. Don’t get me wrong Europe isn’t bad but there’s a nasty strain of xenophobia people don’t really get unless you’ve lived it. It doesn’t look like the movies, with whites screaming epithets at you all red-faced, no, it’s a lot more unemotional than that.

Yep, that is true and you even have Somalia street like us, anyhow. weather wise and employment wise, Australia is a better option. If you guys get out of Minneapolis and delve into the little towns outside of MPLS, it is a hostile Trump territory. You are stuck at the projects in Cedar-Riverside.
It is a democrat state and yeah i would pick sun over snow anyday just to watch aussie xalimos walk around

Would you move to the states if you married someone from there? My sister’s co worker is marrying a guy from Denmark and he wants to move to MN while she wants to move to Denmark, apparently he is hell bent on moving here and told her most Somalis in Denmark would love the opportunity to move to Canada/US is that true?

I would understand if you lived in shitty UK and Sweden but Denmark? Isn’t it like the world’s happiest place to live?
I live in Sweden Denmark is no different than Sweden they pay high tax aswell 30-33% of your wage goes straight to taxes

So by the end of the month when your salary comes into your bankaccount you will see they cut 30% of your salary

Probably that’s why he wanna move

Wtf Why would I live Europe in white mans native land have have some shame that’s there homeland they can kick you out. Australia, USA, New Zealand, Canada is nice it has space and natives all wiped out so it’s for everybody. Idk why Somalis went to Europe. That’s like white people in Africa it make no sense.

Despite the high taxes it’s cool cause you get free dental up until you’re 21

Staying in Hospitals you will only pay a very small amount

Hospital appointment 10 bucks
Emergency room 20-40 bucks

If you are capable and independent, there is no better place than America to live. The country is vast, the opportunities are vast. There is racism and discrimination and so on, but it does not hold back the most capable and it is generally exaggerated. I suspect the discrimination is much more acute in Europe, where there are long-standing ideas that nationality is attached to ethnic origin when in America it is common to identify as American regardless of ethnic background.

Europe is better for those who are less independent, who need state guidance and sponsorship. Europe's governments are much more paternalistic—they provide a lot, but also take a lot to provide it. There is no "free" healthcare there; the healthcare is paid for by very high taxes. There is state welfare in the U.S, but it's modest and overall it's a sink or swim culture. Some will thrive, some will not. This includes Somalis.

There are definitely some perks to living in Europe—the more refined culture, the elegant cities and history, a more intellectual vibe to the people—but America is still a great country, full of energy and optimism and rambunctious dynamism. Only a fool would abandon these shores for the drizzly shores of Europe, where the streets are narrow, the people cold, and the taxes high.

Here in Denmark we don't pay anything for hospital, emergency room or if we go to the doctor. It's all free except dental.

Couldn’t have said it better, it is for the strong. We have truck drivers making 100k without high school diploma. The cost of living is also cheaper in most states compared to Europe, higher wages low cost of living, you can’t beat that

The States is a shithole. The education is shit, no free healthcare, constant natural disasters (earthquakes etc.), horrible justice system. Count me out. Even the UK is better than living there.

If im moving to the NA continent Im defo picking Canada.
