And how would, getting rid of these irrelevant things help people back home who're in a dire situation? Specially the Latin script and Gregorian calendar. What will Somalis gain from their own script or calendar?

Its about being leaders and not followers. These things which may seem to you as being minor are in fact major. The Jews when they were reviving Hebrew, chose to only create new words from a semitic root and to not use the Latin script but improve on the Ancient Hebrew script.

Somalia needs to establish a unique Somali civilization with our writing script,calendar and tradition.

The Jews are completely westernized sxb, looks like the Hebrew revival and the script didn't help them get their culture back. From that it seems like these things won't necessarily hold Somalis to their culture. In other words it's a waste of time.

Since Saddam Hussein has been ousted from power what has occured in the Sunni Muslim world? Destruction of Afghanistan ,Syria, Yemen, Libya..the weakening of Sudan, containment of Somalia etc. Next on the hit list is Egypt and the Gulf countries.

Sunni states have collapsed and their sunni population persecuted...whilst Iran and its shia proxies have gained power. They have taken over Iraq, have strong influence in Syria and have proxies in Lebanon and Yemen.

I don't believe for a second the West and Israel will invade Iran. Putting aside verbal war of words...who has benefitted the most from the upheaval in the Muslim World? Israel and Iran.

Also the question isn't Saudi v Iran. Imagine Iran in control of the two holy cities? They would literally excavate the graves of most of the companions....Umar/Abubakr/Uthman etc and even the mother of the believers Aisha since they hate her guts as well.

Also don't think for a second that they won't try to force their corrupt beliefs onto Somalia. What has happened to Sunnis in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen? Persecuted and wiped out. Same waits for Somalia if Iran takes over power in the middle east....
