Somali culture is condescending to “Xalimos”. Female achievements among the Somali community are typically used as triggers for Somali men.

They don’t really, full-heartedly praise a girl. Instead, they turn it around to boys to incite them with a “look what the girl did, why can’t you”, practically negating her accomplishment in it’s own right.

I can’t tell you how many times it’s happened to me.
