He started around 12/13!! He even hears/heard his friends discuss their favourite genres. One of his friends even started watching gay and came out as gay recently (indian/pakistani boy)..

And? Are you supposed to be surprised? With the internet and the spread of information and how easily accessible and readily it is uploaded/updated, most of it can't be subjected to the screening process.

Essentially you have one of three choices:
1. Ban your child/relative from watching things on youtube/internet
2. Move back to Somalia, with the bad internet and religious upbringing he'll be too distracted to watch or be able to watch it
3. Laisser être

It is not even safe for adults. If you click on ONE conspiracy video, you will fall into a dark rabbit hole of many recommended conspiracy videos. It can radicalize people.

Also, politics videos, if you watch one, they keep on feeding you either far-left or far-right material. Rarely mainstream stuff.

I've seen my 5 year old nephew watching a grown man doing pokemon review. The guy uses vulgar language. Pokemon being ofcourse a favorite of children and many adults, youtube jhst recommends it to him

Some parents don't understand the extent of this kinda thing fr!! YouTube, and the internet in general, is mos def. filled to the brim w/ all kinds of sh!t that's super harmful to the minds of children and even teens. Esp. since they're still in the early stages of their development, they're super impressionable and being exposed to those things will most likely influence them to adopt unhealthy perceptions and potentially into mimicking risky behaviors as well.

Sad thing is, it's becoming harder & harder for parents to monitor internet activity since most kids have access to smartphones and such at earlier & earlier ages nowadays. Plus a lot of kids still have better computer literacy than their parents and have some idea of how to erase their e-footprint or bypass protection measures. The whole "age restriction" stuff is meaningless too. Also, what you mentioned about it being casually promoted in gaming channels is a HUGE issue; one of the worst cases I once saw was this gamer who was wearing a hat w/ the P0rnhub logo on it while doing his daily streams or w/e-- idk if he was paid to endorse the site, but if that's the case ...that's so F'd up. Imagine these companies(?) intentionally targeting YouTubers, whose demographic they clearly know are underage boys, to promote their merch. Smh.

And don't even get me started on the half naked eGirls who masquerade as 'girls who game' when they strip more than they play .

Make sure they don’t watch Minecraft youtubers! Most are pedophiles.

Every teen watches and masturbates ffs, how can they not? If you want your children to grow up healthy, accept this as a fact and don't pretend sex doesn't exist. Censorship does not work, too many ways around it (VPN for example). Sex education is the way to go.
