Has anyone ever documented Somali maids abuse in the Middle East?

There are over 100,000 Somali maids in the Middle East (50,000 registered and the same number or above working there as illegals) isn't there a single abuse recorded? Why not? Or, as usual, if there is, it should be hidden because it will further damage our low self-esteem and our frail pride and ego!!! Is it valid to hypothesize and say that Somali maids are so desperate to stay and work in the Middle East that they will take the beatings and be quiet about it because they don't want to rock the boat and be deported to Somalia? We should send Mr @R.Kelly to the Middle East to do some investigations.

How about you start doing some digging on how domestic maids are treated in Somalia itself? Plenty of diasporans/wealthier Somalis employ maids in Somalia. Hell Somali families even employ them in the Gulf. You can get a head start on your investigation there.

I find it hard to imagine a somali woman becoming a maid. But surprisingly my habar yeer did become one in Saudi. Actually i think she was more a cook than a maid. Then The Saudi family threatened to lock her up when she saved up some money and wanted to go to Somalia. Apparently her baasto suugo was legendary, i personally can attest to that. It opens your appetite even if u dont have one. I always said she was a witch when she cooked food.

Anyway, long story short, Issaaq men in Saudi smuggled her out quickly! lol

I am naturally unserious walaahi. Even at work, people are frustrated with me for not taking things seriously. Mashalaah i have the capability of two people so things dont make me sweat. Although if i sweat, people around me get doubly nervous lol Life is too short. I see the world as comical

My aunt could have been a cook more than a maid, not sure.

It's not really documented because Somalis don't make up a significant portion of domestic expats in the Middle East, especially in comparison to the number of Ethiopian and Filipino workers there.

@Lolalola

Other countries have withdrawn their domestic workers from the Middle East only to be replaced by Somalis. This indicates that a desperate Somali worker would prefer their abuse than be returned to Somalia.

Everything Must Go: Somalia Sells Its Dignity

Despite notoriously appalling working conditions and examples of horrific abuse awaiting domestic staff, Saudi recruiters are believed to be seeking as many as 15,000 housemaids, a move that is thought to be welcomed with open arms by Somalia’s president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. His enthusiasm is in stark contrast to many other African leaders. Only last month the Ugandan government banned its citizens from taking up domestic work in Saudi Arabia after evidence of the torture of a Ugandan maid went viral.

Will you send your female relatives there to be abused?

This is a lie. Asian workers still make up the VAST majority of domestic workers in the middle east and will continue to do so for a while. I live in the ME, Somali domestic workers are not abused and are treated a lot better than their Asian counterparts.

@Genesisx72

I didn't mention all Asian domestic workers were withdrawn or have left altogether and neither did I mention all employers are abusive, but the abusers don't distinguish nationalities, they will be abusing these poor people. You are in the Middle East not to check after the welfare of each domestic worker and you don't hear any Somali abuse only means what I already stipulated above, fear of being deported to Somalia.

Do you have any recent data/news on Somali domestic expats in the ME region to warrant the creation of this thread in 2019?

They do. In the ME, Asians = cheap labor. Somalis are treated better than them due to the fact that a majority of Arabs see Somalis as Arabs as well.

Sxb, read the Huffington Post article I posted above.

@Lolalola

Sxb, the Ramadan must have made you weaker, my whole thread is based on inquiring about their fate or if any news of abuse towards Somali maids has been published.

@Loyan Sxb, with that statement above, you already damaged the weak and the disintegrating low self esteem and fake pride of "Somali patriots" here. Love your hard hitting analysis. Keep them coming.
