Why blind "unionists" are the Problem of Somalia

This was my comment in a recent thread

The only idealistic solution would be to grant Somaliland independence but to keep the borders open for nomads and their herds grazing. No requirement of a Visa or setting up an embassy.

Maybe we could have a Somali Commonwealth like the Arab League where Djibouti, Somalia and Somaliland meet up to discuss Pan Somali Affairs. The Somaliweyn dream can still be achieved as seperate powerful nations because 3 voices is better than one. We don't need to be under flag and one government.

It probably won't but i can't think of anything else to break the deadlock. Landers have invested 30 years into the idea of an independent state, they won't throw that all away for a reunion.

I'm trying to think outside the box and find a way for Somalis to love each other again. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. Maybe secession will teach the future generation that unity is strength.

There are many reasons for why it won't happen but all that aside.

Not everyone from that region is pro-secession.

US States have alot of authority in their politics and economies. That style of governship seems like the ideal solution to this, instead of fragmentation into tiny countries that enemies can exploit.
