How would Somalia look like without the help of the diaspora?

It would turn the economy into a downward trainwreck, businesses would not be able to operate as their customers have no money. It would be an absolute disaster worst than the Great Depression, boys would take up arms and join militias including terrorists, girls would sell themselves to the highest bidders and anarchy shall reign supreme

Exactly......the thought is scary. But it would cause a whole generation to be lost as they would become too inhuman to ever function in normal society.

@TekNiKo

That’s exactly destination Somalis back home because when the current generation that are connected and sending money to the surviving relatives back home are dead, most of the Somali millennials in the diaspora will ignore that kind of practice and concentrate in paying their mortgages and student loans. Maybe, it’s better if they start now and a clear winner emerges in 3 decades.

@roble

A better solution would be China to take over Somalia and each Somali clan given these ghost mega cities in different parts of China that no one lives with all the comfortable gadgets and furniture they require. They will be offered start-up businesses too. China will turn Somalia into the most developed African country in a decade. The people, culture and their ideology is foked up.

or keep thm in internment camps inside somalia till everything done for thm.

Next 10 years will determine somalias future imo. If they dont get their sh1t together 20 years after that somalia wont exist imo and will become a state of ethopia. At some point people will say they cant govern themselves and just take over

All Somalia needs is to create stability, safety and security. Everything will follow, we can all go back. No business will ever invest in Somalia in it current condition. Once people see Somalia to be safe place can we truly build it

@Aladdin

There is no Somalia, but tribal clan enclaves who’re kept apart from one another for the purpose of peace and stability by the international community. We survive on foreign drips and behave like we bought these drips and they work for us. The only thing we’re good at is guiding the penis of a male camel into the vagina of a she-camel. Can’t find that picture right now, ask connoisseur @Bohol because he posted a thread about it.

its really needed especially considering that most of the world (like 80 percent) lives on less than 10 dollars a day, we can easily send that and more to Somalia, good thing is the next generation will probably be sending even more back home as they earn far more than their parents, are more numerous(somalis have lots of kids) and it will be like pocket change sending it back.

This generation ain't sending their hard-earned cash to some random adeero they've never met. It's going to be like @TekNiKo says, complete anarchy. Ironically the South will be allright, they don't have anywhere near as much reying on remittance.

Unless there jobless what hard earned cash are you talking about, 500 dollars is like pocket change to the diaspora might as well send it back home

It's not a question of IF they can send money back, it's if they're WILLING too. Most aren't.
why wouldn't they? maybe 25 percent are unusually selfish, even then the 75 percent that do will be enough considering that they outnumber their parents and it will be upwards of 4 sources of children(usually between 4 and 10 children in Somali households) instead of the only 2 Somali parents.

Where are you from? Here in the UK most young Somalis have little investment on what happens back home. They don't have the patience for distant relatives begging on the phone. The money train will end.

The money train will end. Our parents are getting older and many of them have been away from Somalia for 30 years.

It’s not like the millennial Somalis give a damn about sending their cash to some random relative in Somalia. I think over the next 10-15 years...if Somalia doesn’t get its shit together, we might witness an independent of Somaliland and maybe Puntland, while South Somalia would be absorbed by Ethiopia....and Somaliland would exist as a client state of Ethiopia.

The world has lost its patience with Somalis

Honestly, I’d rather we give our charity to people who are in need, like the displaced, disabled, elderly, orphans etc. not to able bodied men. A little here and there for support is fine but not as an income source. with how much we send, we’re in debt and it’s only getting worse. It’s actually just increasing our money problems and stress wallahi :jcoleno:
At some point, you have to say enough is enough. What are they gonna do if you tell them you can’t sustain this level of giving?

She said it’s putting the family in debt. That’s abosolutely insane and nothing justifies that. I used to think they were, but I no longer think Somalis from back home are miskeenn. They’re actually cuttthroat.
