1) you need basic reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary that's easy to gain ..
2)you need arab friends which can speak fluently standard arabic. Speak with them for couple months and you understand arabic fluently. After another couple of months you will speak it also fluently.

Its unreal how many vocabulary we have with arabic in common. So you have some basics as somali

We used to have Arabic lessons but it was too difficult to understand ficil and different tenses. My mind exploded

Do you wanna learn a dialect or proper Arabic

Hm I want to focus on fusha but the shows I usually find are in a dialect. I prefer a show with english subtitles but it's hard for me to find one. Any recommendations?

Honestly I'm struggling, some days I see progress, other days I just feel like I'm going nowhere.

I learned Arabic when i was a kid and it took me few years.
But, i forgot almost all of it because i don't speak it now.

For a Somali, it would take 2 years and maybe 3 years to have at least a B1 to B2 level. -> It means that you can read and hold a conversation in Arabic.
Watch some arabic shows and cartoons. Speak to your local Arabic people and don't forget to read the Quran. It helps.

Reading Arabic is hard though. Speaking is easier for Africans because we have good memory due the Oral Culture.
But reading Arabic, which is a whole different Alphabet, would take for a random Somali maybe 2 years and maybe more! I can "read" a little of Arabic.

I teach you arabic so that you can flirt in your holidays with some other guy ....خليني انت تلعبين معي

I don’t want to flirt with anybody. I just want to know basic words for shopping and direction purposes

Halkee ila aadey. What does that mean you’ve written?

Ca va bien et toi?
I learn many languages, it's good for my brain:samwelcome:

Bien, merci

It is indeed. I used to study one language module in uni and I stupidly picked French. A couple weeks into my classes , I found out I can’t handle French. I wish I had picked Italian instead.

Too much tongue twisting in French and khooo Khaa khii
