Farmaajo wants to re-centralize Somalia, something that is more dangerous for Puntland than anything Hasan Culusow attempted. His selling of Somalia's high sea fisheries to the Chinese prove that he is a traitor who must be resisted at every turn. Farmaajo's only goal is to weaken federalism and make Somalia once again a city-state, and Puntland will not let that happen.

Psychologically, there is something going on here. They (Abdiweli and Farmaajo) both came from the same space in frigid Buffalo, exiled and in middling careers, but Farmaajo ended up beloved prime minister, and then federal president of Somalia while Abdiweli was an unpopular prime minister and now even more unpopular regional state president. Fat boy is swollen with resentment, and this speech is just a tantrum reflecting that.
