We just need to understand our emotions better and people have to be encouraged to talk about about how they feel.

When my mother and another very family member were both very ill, I used to cry to myself in bed @ night.

I had to contend with a million other responsiblities at the same time. Many Somalis families do not understand the idea of pressure, stress and how much of a burden a person can take. I have seen Somalis of low income who are expected to feed 10 people back home, feed their families in the West and hold down like 2 jobs at the same time. Many pretend they are soldiers and carry on regardless. However, If you see the number of Somalis in mental homes, you will come to understand the soldier bravado is merely a coping mechanism, one that doesn’t work.

The other issue is that grieving in the Somali community consists of people packing your house for 3 days and then everyone disappears. After that, you are supposed to have “ Sabr”. People need emotional support well after the “tacsi” period.

I am having water today for breakfast today so I am thinking on a higher emotional level.

Once I drink sugary tea, I shall back to being a hyper masculine skinny Farax.

Look at this guy he has been reunited with his wife after 8 years the people there are displaying more emotion than him

It is but I was expecting something else since the wife and kids been apart 8 years and they come to the US not tears and stuff

It’s beautiful. I don’t like showing emotions in general, it makes me feel weird. But not when I’m doing theater or acting, I think it’s because their are not my feelings but I donno tbh

He probably can’t believe how beautiful she is and how lucky he is. My BIL cried at his wedding too. But he’s white :bell: I wouldn’t feel comfortable to cry in front of so many people. And then the whole internet judging me like ppl on here don’t even know him but questioning is manhood. Wow:birdman:

Ill say this though Theres Alot of Somali guys that got fucked up views You have guys who think housework and cleaning and being there emotionally for his kids is gay
In my eyes thats being lazy and not being man enough to be responsible for the welfare of other people

If you cant figure out when to be sensitive and when you need to be stern youre probably gonna suck as a parent anyways
