Look again and ask yourself, where is Islam in all of this? These same leaders will be leading the Eid prayers and sending congratulations to “their people”. For what? Why are the public fasting if they can’t show their opposition to such clan wars in the midst of Ramadan? This indicates, we Somalis worship our clans first and Islam comes a distant second.

Somaliland like any other african nation acknowledges its colonial borders and defends them.Its the federal state of Somalia,Puntland,who has ambushed our forces twice this month within our borders.They failed ofcourse because Allah doesn't support barbarians.

Sxb, with due respect, like all Somali clan wars, 2 clans are at war with each other here and they both (like all Somali clans) worship their clans more so than Islam. That’s my point of this thread.

Sorry to burst your bubble,but what is happening currently has nothing do with clans and everything to do with national borders.British Somaliland united with Somalia Italiana in 1961 to form the Republic of Somali not Somalia.When the goverment in Mugadishu attacked Somaliland in the 1980's we seceded in 1991 to reclaim our former independence and borders.Now a federal state of Somalia,Puntland,is causing all kinds of problems within our national borders.The fact that the Mugadishu goverment isn't saying anything means that what is happening currently is Somalia invading Somaliland.A country vs another country.

Come on sxb, we are Somalis and our fellow Somalis would like to sell to us that there is a string or an umbilical cord that ties them together called Islam. It’s not only true, but they are lying to the god they claim to worship. Moreover, what’s the significance of bringing here ww2 being fought on significant religious days? These were wars based on nationalism between sovereign nations. It wasn’t a civil war based on clannism, while both sides spin the brotherhood of their shared faith. As for Yom Kippur, it was a war waged on those holly days by Egypt against Israel. Both weren’t Jewish countries observing their holly days. I can’t see how that’s relevant to this discussion. We shouldn’t be comparing our crazy addiction to tribalism and self-destructive attitude to nations at war with one another.

So it’s ok to kill another Christian during Christmas if you are fighting for land owned by a country but it’s not right if it’s being claimed by a tribe. You do know Puntland and Somaliland see eachother as a different country. However, you have s very Westernised way of looking at things.

Regardless of how they see each other, the fact is the concept of their existence is solely based on tribal fiefdoms who have been antagonistic towards one another for centuries based on clan differences.
