White landowners being killed in Kenya

The situation in Kenya is becoming dire. 22 white landowners own half of Laikipia county and 300K pastoralists have to share the remaining 4000 sq km which is smaller than the smallest distirct in Somalia, Goldogob.
The white ranchers had 99 year leases from the government that are now starting to expire, the pastoralists do not want the government to renew their leases and are trying to evict them. They want the government to give them back their ancestral land.

This one woman, Kuki Gallmann, owns 247,000 acres of the best land in Laikipia while pastoralists starve outside her ranch.

Those leases were not given out by native Kenyans but by the British from 1904 until 1963. There are leases issued by the British that will be in effect for the next 47 years.

The land belongs to government, they just had a right to occupy it. Now that the leases have expired, all of these ranches actually are the property of the Kenyan government. The Kenyan government can legally do whatever it wants with the land. They can just give it back to the pastoralists if they want to.

Apparently these filthy rich landowners did not pay rent. They held the land in leasehold meaning that they paid the British colonial government to own the land for 99 years. After the 99 years, they can get their lease renewed or the government can keep possession of it. They basically hit the jackpot for 99 years, and now the party is over.

What are you talking about, son? Have you been back home recently? Somalis in Somaliland/Somalia are biggest muscled out of their cities and homes by Oromos, Arabs and South Asians. The elite schools are full of foreigners and the nice real estate is being bought by them in Hargeisa and Mogadishu. The few jobs that exist are going to expats instead of native Somali graduates. Shit needs to change or we will become another Bantu country owned by whites and Asians.

99-999 (srs) year leaseholds are rather common in Britain according to a friend who works at the British Land Registry so it isn't surprising that the same system was used in Kenya during colonial times.
