Not true. Any powerful nation can make Somaliland a recognised state. But the question is, why would they? Why recognise a desert shithole connected to a failed state, especially when some of these powerful countries have internal secessionist problems themselves.

The mainland EU has a firm anti-Somaliland collective foreign policy. The US, CA, RU, CN etc don't care. The UK was their only viable option to influence a big global player, especially considering the large Isaaq contingent there.
