Part 2. Now for the most significant part of Somali history. :wow: this one will be a lot more indepth because it has been recorded.

This is a thread to celebrate our thousand year old Muslim heritage and history. No jokes or mockery or bullshit. Stay on topic

Timelines:

7th century - Hijarah and one of the oldest mosque in the world (also the first mosque in all of Africa) built in Zeila in 2 Hijra

8th century - Umayyad caliphate

9th century- Abbasids, Initial Adal kingdom

10th century- Mogadishu Muzzafar dynasty

11th century - ?

12th century - Sufism spreads like wildfire. Most Somalis are now Muslim

13th century- Ajuran and other Somalis start to migrate from the north and conquer the south. Warsangali Sultanate.

1285 - Adal kingdom turns into Ifat Sultanate after conquest of Shewa. Xabashi become very angry

14th century - Ajuran have conquered most of southern Somalia and established the Ajuran Sultanate.

throughout the 1300s - Ifat grows its influence and starts converting Ethiopians to Islam. Xabashis don't like it one bit and tensions escalate into a full out war

15th century - Ajuran become international as they frontier the Indian Ocean trade. They were the first Africans to Map the wind patterns and sail to China and back. Mogadishu becomes a huge booming city. One of the richest in the world.

1415 - After winning the war against Ifat the Xabashi king slays the Ifat Sultan and installs a puppet state. This state doesn't last long and is replaced by the famous Adal Sultanate

16th century- there is too much history from this century wallahi it's impossible to summarize. It's the most turbulent century of Somalia. Mainly because of the Adal conquest of Abyssinia and the Ajuran-Portuguese wars. The 1500s was the greatest era of Somali history no doubt. It was so significant that the name "Somali" was first used in this era.

Mid 17th century - Oromo expansion begins. After seeing Ajuran weakened by the Portuguese they used the opportunity and invaded them but they were repelled.

Late 17th century- Ajuran becomes very poor from all these wars and they start to raise taxes. This didn't end well for them obviously because they were many revolts. Then they finally got overthrown and scattered all over.

Early 18th century - Geledis take power in the south and rule former Ajuran territory

Late 18th century- Omanis ask for help from the Geledis and together they kick out Portugal from the Swahili coast.

19th century was another turbulent century too many things happened and it shaped Somalis as they are today

- Oromos expand into Ethiopia wiping out Somalis in Bale and Amhar highlands. They attack Jigjiga region but get destroyed by Garad wilwal. He got back a lot of land from the Oromos and practically saved most of Somalia from the Oromo hordes.

- Geledis make a deal with Omanis to use the Somali ports. They intern paid homage and tax to the Sultanate.

- Somalis start expanding south to Kenya and the western side of the Jubba river at the expense of native Oromos and Bantus,

- Colonialism, Dervish state, majertinia Bimal revolt, Uweys barvanni etc etc this century is deep as f*ck like the 16th century

20th and 21st century .. everyone knows this part

The Ajuran had the indian ocean on lock down.

I wonder, what must happen for a moment like that to become a reality again?

It won't be hard. Somalia is in a very strategic position. Mombasa and Dar es salam have benefited greatly from somalias chaos but that will end swiftly as soon as Kismayo and Mogadishu are used to their potential.
