The reason Shabab thrives so well in Somalia and can strike when-ever they want is simply clan ties, they use clan ties to operate safely under the radar and they know that no-one will target them on clan basis for any act commited by shabab. So a-lot of people see shabab as a tool to 'extend the civil war' under the guise of 'islam' and 'murtad' and all that shit which is all 'smokescreen'. The day shabab dies and cannot operate in Somalia is when we start to identify shabab attackers as clan and put them under the clan justice system and 'attack' with no remorse any clan who was found to be shabab or did an explosion or an assasination. Mark my words that is when no-one will join shabab in Somalia since it can lead to clan retialation and they will lose their whole recruits within a few hours.
But as long as they operate in this vacuum outside 'clan' justice system, they found their loophole to continue murdering and continue working within clan networks and not fear any repercussion, nor do clans fear any repercussions for housing shabab or assisting them or not reporting them in Somalia. Untill they do and the only way is thru setting up neighborhood committees in each neighborhood of mogadishu and given a firm warning that any shabab that is found to be from your area, will lead to not only his clan being punished thru clan aarsi system but your clan the commitee for not reporting it. If you leave these ppl operating in no accountability vacuum, then that is clear signs you are not genuine to stop them yourself because they can be stopped however you don't have will do so is the problem or simply list shabab under a clan and anyone who is found to do attacks suffers clan justice, watch them exit shabab within a day. Plus if you strengthen the accountability with neighborhood watch committee and warn them if anyone is found to come from your area and does instability your clan falls under the clan justice rule irrespective if your different clan since your the neighborhood watch and neglected your duties.
