Oomaar is a good one. I forgot that one. Thanks. I've never head of Diirshe before, sounds cool. As for Raage, Mire and Warsan I have those on the list. Mulki is Arabic though from the word Mulk which means kingdom. I have my doubts about Fartuun being Somali.

Great lists guys, this should be done in alphabetical order and correlated, probably into a booklet or a new thread and put as a sticky, once everyone have their inputs.
One forgotten thing is the suffix "oow" (male) "eey" (female) which has cushitic origins
e.g. Amran becomes Amraneey, Anwar becomes Anwaroow etc.
We do this kind of thing without even realising, it's part of our genetic code. So even none cushitic names are cushiticized this way. We actually used his as names several hundred years ago, until we dropped them, but in the households we still do this.

It's one of those names that have been Somalinised like Amran iyo Luul but they are originally Arabic.
It's actually not. It comes from 'Jamasho'. When ppl go after something or someone they like and want they engage in 'jamasho'. So Jamaad means a girl who is well sought after oo la jantay.
