I've heard this line of argument before, but you have to understand the advantage the Ethiopians had was because of firearms.

The Europeans placed an arms embargo on Somali clans but allowed the Ethiopians to import guns which swung the balance of power. Somalis had to smuggle and often steal arms to keep afloat.

Not much. I think they only went as far as Jigjiga. The rest of the region was given to them by Britain.

Even we struggle to control a pastoral society, let alone foreigners. I do think though that they would have taken Jubbaland and the cities since that had strategic value if the colonials didn't. They used to inflict heavy blows on the Geeljires and took a lot of their livestock.

how? Ethiopia didn't even fully control the ogaden until the british gave it to them? Forget about mainland somalia. In fact, if it wasn't for the british(who gave the ogaden to the Ethiopians in 1954), we would either be fully in control of it or it would still be disputed.
