Some were even calling for the Xamar Admin to do something about it with their sovereign nation capabilities. I'm sure the Isaaq guy on YouTube/Facebook live that was complaining about this and telling the Somali admin to use their power to stop this will be very happy now

It will be very interesting to see the reaction on this and the outcome. 2017 Somali politics got me hooked

SL gave UAE a military base in Berbera. Gulf states are currently fighting the Houthis/shia in Yemen. That military base will most probably use to launch attack in Yemen. The Houthis themselves have missiles that can easily reach Berbera.

Is there a count that shows who voted against it in the federal parliament? I'm interested in Somalilands MPs more specifically. And so far RadioDalsan are the only ones who is reporting this. I'd wait until we have further confirmation

Now you understand why people are freaking out. Shia Yemenis are being armed to their teeth by Iran. They recently completely destroyed a UAE vessel in the Red Sea.

They will use Berbera as a military base to fly planes from and bomb Yemen houthis. Incase you didn't know there are proxy wars in the Middle East between Saudi Arabia and Iran (Sunni vs Shia). The UAE is allied with Saudia and actively takes part in bombing the shit out of South Yemen Houthis which are supported by Iran.

Many in SL and many Somalis in general feel like the deal is going to drag them in to unnecessary sectarian Arab bullshit because helping the gulf Arabs won't sit well with the Houthis and Iran. They may think Somalis are their enemies and start aiming their missiles at Somali cities.

I'm 100% sure Iran can't tell (or just doesn't give a shit) about the difference between SL and Somalia. Their advanced missiles are just 20 minutes away from us and will indiscriminately target and bomb major cities if they are provoked.
