This is a dude I befriended on twitter based in Mogadishu he is the one who sends me pictures of artifacts found in Somalia and several private collections.

What do you guys think? With the Ancient punt sculptures found in Hargeisa and Queen Nefertiti head bust & plates found in Hafun, there is some possibility for these antiques displayed in Mogadishu to be legit.

Until a national museum is set up and the creation of a legit national heritage institution we won't know for sure nor would we be able to showcase them due to the possibility of looters stealing them.

Recounting an article written about the Hargeisa grave robbers.

If the department had more resources, perhaps they could pay the looters to protect the sites, as they are at least familiar with the relics and appreciative of their scale. As it is, most Somalis do not know the heritage of their nation, nor do they encounter it with regularity. So when they find an object, they more likely view it as a strange remnant of some alien civilization. They’re fond of attributing relics to giants, and either way seem eager to destroy or sell them.

It went as far as people accusing Egypt of sabotaging and stealing Somali heritage

Others like Ali, have decided that their nation invented Egyptian culture, and their problems must stem in part from an Egyptian cover-up of that fact.

This climate of mistrust has led some like Ali and others to believe that there is a foreign conspiracy afoot to rob Somalis of their history. Ali suspects that the Egyptian Library next to the Presidential Compound in Hargeisa is a front for clandestine Egyptian saboteurs and foreign agents. He alleges that these agents are trying to keep Somaliland down, afraid that their archaeological heritage will supersede Egypt’s and rob that country of their much-needed tourism revenue.

Regardless unless something is done now & done effectively, Somalis will stand to forsake much of their National Heritage.
Like this brother here eloquently pointed out:

Egyptians appropriating Somali culture siilaanyolaugh let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. We would look ridiculous making those claims with just plates from Hafun

Who knows these plates might be just replicas, without Carbon dating & testing we wont know for sure if they are legit or not.

That wasn't the point of this thread. It was about Somalis losing a lot of their national heritage. Without a proper national museum and a national heritage institute to protect & preserve it , it will fall more & more into the hands of looters.

So far nobody has bothered setting up a national database of missing items for Somalia.

It is just sad really.
