Agreed. I also think Somalia should have an intern scheme where they take the best graduates in Law and Governance from Somali Universities to take courses abroad. This will level out the playing field.

I offered my cousins the opportunity to study abroad and all refused. They like the carefree life they have.
These people tahrib in the hundreds per day. They must be well off.

I was talking to my dad about this.
Asian migrants to Australia get permanent residency by investing $50 K USD in a shop and then sell that shop to a family or a group of people in India/China so they can get permanent residency and so on and so forth.
I said to my father, what if Somalis did that. The minimum cost of tahriib is $10K, if 5 Somali men got together and did this then we would see an end to Somalis dying due to tahriib.
This would benefit Aggregate Demand in both the West and Somalia.

Stop .there are men who were driving taxis in Europe who became politician's and officials .even cat addicts are promoted to positions they are unqualified for .I think there should be a cap on the number of positions filled by diaspora .in fact I believe diaspora returnees should be made to train the youth for free .

They pay 5-10k US dollars they go to ethiopia and than to Yemen where they get jailed and have to call relatives to send X amount of money or theyll be killed by the end of the week thats why the persons family get all money from every relative in such a short notice

My cousin was taken by someone but the family refused to pay even though they are quite well off. The cousin fled after being told 100 times not to go.
He was eventually freed but I am not sure why. The ransom was not paid.

It's not about diasporans and locals, it's about people (mostly diasporans) working for NGOs and the government to loot resources and make big money. It's not the locals fault that their schools lack good curriculums, that's what the diasporans should be doing (like Abaarso) instead of trying to be presidents in Somalia living some fantasy while they lived in exile and safety in the West.
Diasporans should stay in the West and assist the Somali community there. Let the Somalis that never left lead the charge. Most diasporans are not doing well in the west, they should focus on being successful in the west.

Yes, they come back shilling savior stories to the locals like evangelicals when they didnt cut it in their home countries.
Unless you are doing something in the private sector, you are typically a hack trying to take advantage of the Wild, Wild, West style of hiring in the public/NGO sector.
There is hardly real employment to speak of period. Why do you think people are risking their lives fleeing from peaceful areas? Joblessness makes humans lose hope. The public sector/NGOs are some of the very few areas which people can actually aspire to make living wages.
They should make employment.
We all send thousands of dollars to families there every year. They should save some of that up and open a business
